Nagina Sewing Center:

For millions of women in Pakistan, life is a battle against poverty and despair. Most women are completely reliant upon their husbands for survival. If tragedy strikes a family women are left to care for themselves and their children alone. These women are completely unprepared for a career as most women in Pakistan are illiterate with no job skills. This project will advocate women's education and provide career training to lift families out of poverty and reduce the risk of despair for women.

Through education can we improve women's role in society. Our project provides career level sewing training to needy women while advocating education as a means for prosperity. These women can earn money for their families after our 6 month training program.

Their income increases their value within the family and encourages women's education. Beyond the example set by these women we go out into the community to rally support for education, especially women's education.

Our Nagina Sewing Center is named after the founder's deceased mother and has trained more than 532 women the skills needed to use a sewing machine professionally. Many have gone on to work at local factories and bring home income that helps to provide for their families.

Nagina Sewing Center is very successful and we are planning for more 6 month programs. We bring our program to the communities in need therefore our location changes after every program.
